Why We Share the Gospel
Why should I tell people about Jesus? What if I don’t have all the answers? Am I really equipped to share the Gospel?
What Is the Gospel?
Countless people around the world have yet to hear the Good News of the Gospel. Many believe they must become missionaries or have every answer before they can share their faith, but that is simply not true.
The gospel is not complicated; it is the truth that Christ alone is our source of salvation. There is no other way to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. As Pastor Gregg reminded us in his recent sermon, it is not by our own good works. “Jesus changes our hearts through salvation in Christ. We trust him to forgive our sins, and God forgives our sins. It is Jesus who lives in our heart through the Holy Spirit.”
Having the Answers
Jesus makes our mission clear in Matthew 28:19–20 (CSB):
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Sharing the gospel can feel intimidating, but a great place to start is simply telling your story. How has Jesus changed your life? Your testimony can plant seeds in someone else’s heart.
From there, you can share the message itself: Jesus Christ died for our sins, offering forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who believes in Him.
Sharing the Good News is one of the greatest expressions of love. Through our words and actions, we reflect Christ and point others toward knowing Him.
Am I Equipped to Share the Gospel?
Many in the Bible felt unqualified: Moses, Gideon, Jeremiah, and many more. Yet God used every one of them for His glory.
Acts 1:8 (CSB) reminds us:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The same God who empowered them lives in us today. He equips us, gives us words to speak, and helps us approach others with the same grace we have received. And as we share the gospel, our own faith grows deeper.
As you move through your day, pray for God to use you. Ask Him to open doors and give you opportunities to share the hope of Jesus with those around you.
Our world desperately needs Him, and it can start with you.
